Whilst still retaining the decor and atmosphere of the splendid Georgian era, the County hotel has every modern amenity. The hotel remains a popular stopover for those travelling between England and Scotland.
The County hotel is a famous listed building in the heart of the city centre, close to shops, bars and restaurants. Open daily for breakfast and dinner, our Gallerie restaurant offers a choice of a la carte and ‘table d'hote’ menus, complemented by a fine selection of wines and liqueurs. Adjacent to the restaurant, the Portland Residents Lounge Bar is the place to relax before or after your meal. As an alternative to the restaurant, you may prefer to sample our bar menu in the relaxed atmosphere of JR's Bar & Diner.

All children are welcome. All children under 5 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding. All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots. Extra beds are not available. Maximum capacity of babycots in a room is 1.
If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled later, the first night will be charged. In case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.

By Car
From M6 Junction 43:
- Follow signs for Carlisle.
- At the first set of traffic lights (Tesco on right, Rover garage on left) head straight on and then straight on through the next 4 sets of traffic lights.
- Turn first left into Cecil Street then take the first right into Mary Street.
- The County Hotel car park is on the right. Please note that parking is available on a first come first served basis and we regret that we cannot reserve spaces.
